In the year 1624 the original settlers arranged the inaugural Portsmouth Snowball Fight during a record snowfall that year. And although the record only dated back 1 calendar year, the snow was plentiful, and so were the good-times.
Although the tradition had been lost for many years, we have tried to resurrect “Ye Olde Snowball Fight” over the past few years, and this year is no exception.
We don’t have record snowfall. We don’t have permission from anyone. We just have a snowstorm and probably a lot of people who want to throw snow and it’s mid-March. So let’s throw some snow.
This original thing was organized by Devin Murphy and Eva Malone. They don’t live here anymore. You might still. Go throw snow.
This is not an official event. More a notice that, if you appear in Market Square Thursday between 3pm and whenever, snow is going to be thrown. There are no sides except the temporary and unsteady alliances that appear in a snowball fight. We will be throwing snow. As in war, there are no non-participants.
Wear a costume if you’re daring.
Bars stay open around there even for snowfall so get some courage there.

Hope to see everyone!!
